Peace & Paws, lisa

My formal canine massage training took place at the Rocky Mountain School of Animal Acupressure and Massage where I completed training in both therapeutic and sports massage in 2009. Since that time, I have massaged hundreds of dogs- each one a unique encounter based on trust. I love working with geriatric, surgical or injury recovery dogs, but my ongoing passion is working with behavior issues, dogs in transition, and especially difficult or “misunderstood” dogs.

Prior to this work, I co-founded an organic dog treat business, completed a Master of Divinity degree, produced visual effects in Hollywood, and worked as a student athletic trainer in college. Through it all, my dogs have been my greatest teachers, and I am delighted to be working with dogs (and their people) full-time!

By listening, observing, and communicating, I partner with you and your dog to create and nurture a trust-based relationship. I love serving families in this way and watching as dogs and their people learn and grow together in a fun and rewards-based environment. Massage and training can be powerful ways that dogs connect with humans, and especially in concert, these two ways of working often serve as a catalyst for significant physiological and behavioral changes! It makes my heart sing to watch little miracles happen with dogs in their homes, or at the local shelter where I volunteer regularly, as they learn or re-learn what it feels like to be calm, safe, relaxed, and understood.

My trusty, intermittently reactive, massage-loving dog Clementine and I enjoy our travels throughout the southwest as we offer workshops and in-home consultations where people learn to relax and bond with their dogs. We share our home in the Jefferson Park neighborhood of Denver (in the lively Highland area) with one (sometimes very snarky) SARK kitty.

We are pleased to now offer in-home boarding (with training reinforcement) for select clients on a case-by-case basis in the Denver area.

We often refer to what we do as “Creative Peacemaking with dogs and their people,” which includes: private massage • in-home human/dog training and behavior
consultations• massage and training workshops for canine guardians • workshops for recently adopted dogs and dogs in shelter settings • ritual with humans and companion animals. My goal is always to facilitate nurturing trust-based relationships with dogs and their people.™ We can’t wait to meet you and your dog!
